Meet the Founder
Kayhan Kandahari
Kayhan Kandahari is a junior at South County High School and a dedicated advocate for global health awareness and policy. He founded Voices Unmuted as a small social media account focused on raising awareness for countries experiencing crisis. The account originally shared posts highlighting humanitarian issues and global emergencies. When the platform became less active over time Kayhan chose not to step away from his mission but instead expand it.
He created the Voices Unmuted website as a space where individuals can share ideas perspectives and solutions related to global crises. The platform encourages discussion promotes awareness and empowers people to think critically about real world challenges. Kayhan believes that lasting change begins with informed voices and meaningful action.
In addition to awareness work Kayhan is also an advocate for policy driven solutions. He serves as a Harvard STRIPED Translator where he helps make public health research more accessible to wider audiences. Through this role he works to bridge the gap between research and real world impact while supporting evidence based policy discussions. His interest in policy comes from a belief that systemic change is essential to addressing global health inequities.
Kayhan’s passion for advocacy has continued to grow over time. What began as a small social media effort has evolved into a broader platform that combines awareness education and policy engagement. Voices Unmuted reflects his commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and encouraging young people to participate in shaping a more informed and compassionate world.
